Let us assess your accounting system, the chart of accounts, and the configuration of other systems that feed into the accounting system such as payroll, EMR and donor software to determine if they are configured optimally. Contact us and let’s put in a little effort on the front-end to save time month after month after month!
How do you make the most of the systems you already have?
The simple but difficult answer is to reduce data silos and focus on integration.
But here’s the catch: Very few companies actually do this well. While having data silos is almost unavoidable–particularly in healthcare–they don’t have to remain in silos forever. But building the integration between systems can be intimidating even for veteran accounting professionals.
Many hospice finance staff may have a great handle on accounting, but aren’t necessarily computer experts and may have started out during a time when accounting was not done with computers. Current accounting technology and accounting processes can be very specialized, technically challenging, and difficult to learn.
“We’re Still Hand-Entering Journal Entries, Can You Help Us?”
This is exactly who we want to help. Too many manual processes creates room for errors, especially when hand-keying payroll from a separate payroll system or revenue from the patient management system. Hand-entering journal entries is a sure sign that there is room for better integration.
“And What About our EMR Software?”
EMR software in particular can be difficult to work with because it’s not always designed with the accounting end-users in mind. We’ve seen many instances where EMR financial reports won’t tie out within the EMR system itself. If you don’t know what you’re working with, this can undermine confidence in your processes.
Fortunately we have experience in most of the major patient-management systems and have determined the most streamlined methods for speeding up the month-end close.
We can help determine if there is room to have these systems easily talk to each other and eliminate redundant processes. We can lay out the steps necessary to align systems, or if necessary we can even work on the integration piece itself.
“Am I Getting the Most Our of Our Software?”
Hospice leadership may be uncertain about the accuracy or efficiency of their accounting system, people, or accounts. They may suspect there is a flaw in the design of their whole accounting department. We can perform an assessment of your accounting, EMR/patient-management system, payroll, donor software and other systems. We look at the resulting accounting processes and financial statements to determine the action items needed to make the most of the systems you have.
Often the software you already have is more than enough to have all the data you need at your fingertips.
First, align. Then, automate. We can determine the best way to align systems and reduce or eliminate data ‘silos’ and areas of inefficiency or duplication of effort.
If we find issues that are more personnel-related, we can also perform a TEAM ASSESSMENT of your accounting team and CFO and offer expert guidance on the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of your individual and collective accounting department.
